I teach the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level I, (Shoden) First Degree Practitioner Certification; Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level II, (Okuden) Second Degree Practitioner Certification; and the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level III Third Degree (Shinpi Den), Reiki Master Teacher Certification classes.
For individuals who have successfully achieved Reiki Level I and Level II Certified Practitioner, many Reiki Master Teachers will offer the Reiki Practitioner the Advanced Reiki Training (ART) as the next level. The ART provides additional symbols, healing energy, techniques, and knowledge similar to the Reiki Master Teacher certification class. Sometimes the ART is called Reiki Master Level IIIa. Then, the Reiki Master Teacher teaches the Level III, Reiki Master Teacher Certification class which is sometimes called Reiki Master IIIb.
Rather than teach the Advanced Reiki Training (ART) as an individual class, I combine it with the Reiki Master Teacher Certification by extending the training days. One of the primary reasons I do this is to support the reverence of Reiki as a sacred and empirical healing process with the goal of sharing what they learned with other students worldwide as a Reiki Master Teacher.
An intrinsic value of combining these two levels is the accelerated enlightenment and spiritual development of the Reiki Master Teacher. Another benefit is the capacity to teach and certify students in all levels of Reiki even if initially this was not considered by the Reiki Practitioner.
I believe that when we are drawn to become a Reiki Practitioner we know this on multiple levels and we have a feeling for embracing the calling to serve others and to make a positive difference in the world. When a person senses a calling for becoming a Reiki Master Teacher is more significant in the sense that it carries greater responsibility. In addition to providing Reiki treatments, the Reiki Master Teacher certifies new Reiki Practitioners and Reiki Master Teachers who will exponentially pass on this healing process to many new healers.
One of the benefits of becoming a Reiki Master Teacher is the fulfillment of following one’s spiritual path. There is the essence of harmony, balance, unconditional compassion, and embracing our life experiences with our intuitive guidance.
The Reiki Master Teacher has infinite healing potential. And of course, unlimited responsibilities as a teacher. When the Reiki Practitioner feels that they can embrace the responsibilities to fulfill their healing potentials they may find it’s time to become a Reiki Master Teacher. I interview Reiki Practitioners, even those I have certified, to discuss the responsibility of being a Reiki Master Teacher and the life changes that may occur once they become certified as a Reiki Master Teacher.
I have read from other prominent Reiki Master Teachers that a Reiki Practitioner and especially a Reiki Master Teacher must surrender and allow the spiritual path to guide them. I believe that following our spiritual paths are not surrendering. It is embracing, and there is a significant difference. I think of embracing as equality that empowers us rather than a surrendering which appears inherently disempowering.
The next two-day Reiki Master Teacher certification class is in Grand Junction, Colorado on September 29, and September 30, 2018.
